Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
GunSnap LLC (“GunSnap,” “we,” “us”) makes inventory and online-listing software for licensed firearm dealers. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do — and don’t do — with it. We’ve written it in plain English on purpose.
The short version
- We collect only what the service needs to work.
- We take no online payments, so we never see or store card numbers.
- A dealer’s serial numbers and stamping photos are private and never appear on a public storefront.
- We don’t sell your information to anyone.
- A dealer can export their data or cancel at any time.
Who this covers
Two kinds of people use GunSnap: dealers (the gun store that subscribes) and store visitors(a customer who browses a dealer’s storefront and may ask about an item). We handle information differently for each.
What we collect from dealers
- Your mobile phone number, to sign you in by text-message code. GunSnap has no passwords.
- Your store’s information — business name, address, hours, and the storefront web address you choose.
- Inventory you add — photos of items, descriptions, prices, and details like make, model, and caliber.
- Serial numbers and photos of stampings, which we treat as private records. These are used only inside your own account and are never shown on your public storefront.
What we collect from store visitors
A visitor can browse a dealer’s storefront without giving us anything. If a visitor chooses to contact a store about an item — to reserve it, ask a question, join a wait list, or offer to sell — the form collects:
- The name and phone number they enter;
- Any message and preferred visit time they add;
- The item or request they’re writing about.
This information is passed to the dealer so the dealer can get back to them — that is the entire point of the form. GunSnap does not use a visitor’s contact details for its own marketing.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we log basic technical data — including your IP addressand general device/browser information — to keep accounts secure, prevent spam and abuse, and keep the service running. We use a login cookie to keep dealers signed in; it is required for the app to work and is not used for advertising.
How we use photos and AI
When a dealer photographs an item, we send that photo to our AI provider (Anthropic’s Claude) to read the markings and help write the listing. Photos are processed to provide the service; they are not used to train third-party models beyond what is needed to return your result.
Who we share information with
We are not in the business of selling data. We share information only:
- With the dealer, for visitor inquiries sent through that dealer’s storefront.
- With the service providers that run GunSnap— our hosting and database (Supabase), our web host (Vercel), our text-message provider (Twilio), and our AI provider (Anthropic) — strictly to operate the service.
- When the law requires it, such as a valid legal request.
We do not sell your personal information.
How we protect information
Each dealer’s data is isolated from every other dealer’s at the database level. Private records — serial numbers and stamping photos — are stored separately from anything public and cannot be selected by storefront code. Access is limited to what the service needs.
How long we keep it
We keep dealer account and inventory data for as long as the account is active. Visitor inquiries are kept so the dealer can follow up. A dealer may delete items or close their account; when an account is closed we delete or de-identify its data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet a legal obligation.
Your choices
- Dealers can view and edit their data in the app, export it at any time, and cancel whenever they want.
- Anyone may ask us what personal information we hold about them, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state’s privacy law.
Children
GunSnap is a business tool for licensed dealers and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll make a reasonable effort to let dealers know.
